Time to let go

Up, up they go. All the way to the top. They peer over the edge. Fear has consumed me. Down, down they go. Time for me to let them go.

Red Writing Hood prompt:

This week’s assignment will require the fewest number of words ever: we want you to write a story – your choice of topic – as a tweet.

That’s right. One hundred and forty characters. Not words. Characters.

*******************

Wow! This was a lot harder than I thought!

I'm a tweeter (@_MamaJules_) and I think I'm pretty good at putting my thoughts out there in 140 or less. Or at least I thought I was. By the way, yes I did use Tweet Deck to make sure I stayed within my character limit.

If you think you know what I'm talking about, leave me your best guess in the comments below. I'll be back on Monday with the full story.

It made me think of baby birds in their nest in a tree.

I was thinking of an amusement park ride, like a roller coaster or something.

I'm with Oka...I was thinking roller coaster.

I was thinking roller coaster for real, parenting for metaphor.

Can't wait to hear the real story!

Also? I typed in twitter, too, which I thought was kind of fun! :)

I pictured a Ferris Wheel.

I have no guess because I'm awful at it, but am very intrigued to know what it is!

By the way, I used TweetDeck as well. It was the only way to not have to count to 140 over and over again. ;)

Great images evoked here! I love how you turned this into a guessing game, too. My first thought was birds leaving the nest, but I could totally picture a roller coaster as well.

Visiting and following from WOE; loving your style!

I pictured pushing them on a swing.

Tell!

I tweeted yesterday that I was glad I could write my rough draft in tweetdeck for this - ha!

I'm with Galit, this made me think of my kids and parenting... nice job!

I'm with Galit--a ride and parenting. But I'm looking forward to finding out!

I voted for roller coaster as a metaphor for parenting.

I just thought of parenting, a graduation maybe ..them peering down from a stage etc...I didn't see anything but letting our children go.

BUT WOW, this was amazing :)

I definitely saw a parenting moment, but I was thinking hang gliding. I love that these leave room for our imaginations.

I love how many different scenarios are being named in the comments. Me, I see a tall sliding board, but probably because there was a big one at the park when I was growing up.

I thought slide, but maybe a first ride on a roller coaster without an adult.

Can't wait to hear the story :)

Slide is what came to mind for me. Toddlers climbing to the top. Looking down that long slope, then sliding all the way down.

Good way with the prompt!

I thought of parenting kidlets, but also saw kidlets climbing high and finding their way down, negotiating the terrain and trusting their decisions. :>
